South of Sligo town, Knocknarea (327m) is a 40-minute walk from the car park at Strandhill to the summit cairn — traditionally the tomb of Queen Maeve of Connacht. The views from the top span Sligo Bay, Benbulben, and the Ox Mountains. Strandhill itself is the county's surf hub — the National Surf Centre is based here, and Voya Seaweed Baths offer heated seaweed soaks overlooking the Atlantic.
