Monaghan County Museum in Monaghan town was the first full-time professionally staffed local authority museum in Ireland (opened 1974) — archaeological artefacts and heritage exhibitions in a compact, authoritative setting. The Glaslough Heritage Trail is a 2-kilometre walking trail through the village and Castle Leslie estate. Rossmore Forest Park, 3.5 kilometres from Inniskeen, offers woodland walks in a peaceful setting.
